Callie's Egg Toy

The other night, Iain enjoyed playing with this toy. Callie received it for her birthday, from one of her (very charming) California aunties. She loved it. Baby Kate loved it. Iain loves it.

This is baby crack, people.

It's features are: three colors of egg; removable shells with different faces on them, different shapes on the bottom so the toy must fit into the proper egg-crate spot; push-able squeaking. So you open the box, then you take the shell tops off, then you can pick up the eggs and make them squeak, then you can fit them back into the crate, where they fit for shape and line up for color and then you have to put the shells back on. In other words: massive sorting fun time.

Seriously, they won't stop playing with it. You should get one.

Method

While we were in Asheville, Iain's grandmother gave us some Method babywash. I guess it was on sale or something, and she was trying to make our lives easier by bringing things up from SC so we didn't have to bring so much down with us.

Anyway, I've been using it in the bath, and it's good stuff. They claim that the scent is "rice milk and mallow," but I'm here to tell you it smells like a very mild form of sandalwood.

You may be disgusted at this point. Patchouli has gotten a bad reputation because some people wear Way Too Much, and sandalwood is in the same camp. But a teensy bit, lingering on your hands or in your hair...delicious!

Ever since we started using it, not only does Iain smell divine, but I can detect that little hint of spicy goodness on my hands for hours. I might actually have to buy more.

I love my BOB

Ready for a walk, sun shining, jacket on, seatbelts fastened, toes dangling.


This is soooo exciting.

New Toy

Remember the video from earlier in the week? Iain liked Charles's red Ferrari. His toy Ferrari, I should say. But that toy is made of metal, has working doors and a hood that opens. Charles was a wee bit concerned that it might poke Iain's eye out or something. And if thrown, that thing could really whack the TV or the floor.

So we went hunting for a rolling toy that would be more baby-appropriate. And this is what I settled on, through Amazon.com:

I figured, looking at the photograph, that it was about the size of a grapefruit.

Well...no. This is how big it is:

But it's interesting. There is a ball on the inside, so when Iain rolls it the toy makes a satisfying clicking noise. You can see the other Plan toy we have (a gift) above. In both cases, Iain was less interested in the noises than in the flavors.

I Got My High-Chair!

My new high-chair has arrived. It's a steely grey, to match my eyes. You can also wipe it clean, to match...uh...never mind.


As you can see, I tested it out immediately. Also, note that contrasting stripes is the hot new look for fall.

Plenty of room to stretch out. I have to talk to The Staff about the mess, though. Look how they left this filthy tissue on my desk! I hardly have room for my toy.

This guy's just jealous. Or hungry. Probably both.

I Got My Bob!

Look at me! Ready to go for a run, if only anyone in this family liked to run. But I've confirmed that I can bump up over the stairs in this puppy.


When the shade moves forward, the sun can shine on my head. Warm...good...

See how it gives me a soft sort of light - this is what I'll get the director to recreate when I'm the star of my first Oscar-worthy film. Of course, in that circumstance I won't sit around with my mouth hanging open. But that's another issue.

High Chair? Check!

We chose the Mutsy Easy Grow High Chair, in grey, as you see here. The photo is from All Modern Furniture, but we got ours through BareBabies.com because they have free shipping for orders over $99. We also had a coupon for 10% off, so that was helpful.

It's adjustable, has the tray, a support-y thing so he can sit in it right away, and comes in a good color. Yeah!

New Shoes

Charcoal grey baby booties. Slip on. Called "Weebox." How could I resist? And at $1.50 in a baby re-sale store - why bother?

Stroller - Check

We have purchased our new stroller. It's a BOB Revolution. Naturally, we had to have something called a Bob, since that keeps things in the family. Plus, we can amuse ourselves by saying things like, "Honey, can you get Bob out of the trunk?" Hyuk, hyuk.

The Bob is on sale right now at REI, 20% off, so we jumped on it despite the price and the fact that we could probably wait a few weeks before getting it. It will be best for Iain once he's sitting up unassisted, which he could do pretty soon. But he's terribly irritated by his carseat/stroller thing these days, and clearly wants to be able to see out more. The Bob will accomplish that.

It will also make walking with the stroller less irritating for Mommy. The Bob has one front wheel, so I'm hoping it will bump up over sidewalk cracks more easily. The design was intended for jogging - which we emphatically *don't* do - but reviews show it works well for walking on rough terrain.

What color, you ask? Black, of course. Don't be ridiculous.
