Boys, Boys, Everywhere

Above, my godson, Wes. Check him out. Amazing how a little guy whose picture in my office shows him all red and squishy looking (newly born, naturally) has become a small man-person. With a great haircut, no less!

And below, Wes' little brother, Asher. Cutey #2 is about to turn 15 months, but below you see him at his birthday celebration last summer. Pretty adorable, no? I especially like that shirt, since I hear from a little bird that Asher and Wes are both Daddy's boys.

In other news, Iain woke up this morning and immediately demanded "Gossie!" He wanted to read his Gossie and Gertie book before diaper-changing (or, as it turned out, during diaper changing), before eating, before brushing his teeth... Suddenly, everything's Gossie all the time.

First, the Bad News

Ok, ok, start with the good news. Asher's got a sense of humor. How else can we explain the photo above?

And he's increasingly skilled with his computer. Which is good, since pretty soon we're going to have to resort to child labor to make ends meet in this country. I hope he's learning C++ or whatever these crazy kids are programming in.

Also in the good news column: Asher and Daddy have a lot of fun together.

Now for the bad news. When it comes to cheeks, Asher's in the same boat as Brando. Sorry, kid. Try toast. Toast can really bulk you up. Also, waffles. It's working for Maddie...

Orange you glad to see Asher?

Mr. Clemson Football (aka Asher) is back, happy to inform you that he's 6 months old and ready to party! As you can see, he's all strapped in.
Safety first, right?
From what I hear, big brother Wes is teaching him the ropes, so pretty soon Asher will be playing baseball and video games with the best of them.

Asher: Absolutely Adorable

Fresh from the factory, and already pretty darn cute. Mom says he looks like his father, but since both parents are handsome specimens, I'll say he looks like both of them.

Here, of course, everyone's favorite time with any newborn. Sleep away, kiddo, mommy's tired. Daddy, from what I hear, is so excited he can't sleep anyway. "Hi! I have a son! Wanna see???" Congrats, Jack - oh, and you have throw-up on your shirt.

No child in Heather's family wears blue for long. It's orange, baby, starting as young as possible. If they make orange diapers, don't doubt for a second that he's wearing them. Pretty soon it'll be IPTAY and Death Valley and making a face whenever someone says, "Gamecock."

Asher has an older brother. Not just any older brother, of course. This child has been groomed by me from birth - shown the ways of the world and exposed to all that is good (especially at FAO Shwartz, RIP). At this very moment, Something Special is winging its way to Big Brother Number 1, though he knows it not.

Notice How BBN1 looks at Asher as if to say, "As soon as they realize that you cry and poop a lot, I'm totally off the hook, dude. Compared to you, I'm no trouble at all. Also, I can ride my bike and read, whereas your big accomplishment is eating. But I'll still be nice to you."

And, last, the art shot. This is the one that will go in his Oscar montage when he wins a lifetime achievement award.

P.S. Notice the hospital room behind BBN1. That brings back memories.
