Birthday Love

How did I miss this? Freddie shares her birthday with Charles. So when Charles was opening his presents (not trucks), Freddie was enjoying buckwheat pancakes (in her skivvies!) and discovering the joy of burnt sugar ice cream (above). Let's just take a moment to think about that: burnt sugar ice cream. Wow.

Graham joined in the celebration. I love his hipster glasses and the chill pose:

Malcolm, however, seems to disapprove a bit. He's not yet had his birthday, so perhaps that's the problem. All the attention, recently focused on Himself, shifted for a day to Freddie. That can't go over well when you're almost-three-months.

Happy 2nd Birthday, Freddie. I hope you had a nice day and Iain wishes for you to get at least one truck.

D.A.D.D.

Image from DADD website. Image is a hyperlink

Today I saw a bumper sticker. It said: D.A.D.D.

That stands for Dads Against Daughters Dating.

Naturally, I thought of Callie's Dad.

The motto of the organization? "Whatever it takes."

Malcolm

Welcome to Malcolm, the newest member of the H-F clan, brother to Graham and Freddie, scion of two great families.

Last night I asked Charles, "Is it that Sara and Brian always choose interesting names, or is it that when they choose a name it becomes interesting?" No idea. But we can't wait to hear about Malcolm's adventures.

Waiting for Baby

First of all, how much do I love Sara's new iPhone app? It makes her photos look like Polaroids.

Second, do these two look like they're waiting? They are. Waiting for a sibling who's due any minute. Brother? Sister? Nobody knows, but we're all dying to find out.

Hap-Bir-Day!

Graham turned 4 this week, proving that time flies and I'm not paying enough attention. Check out his hip-to-the-hop wrist warmers. Apparently, in Cambridge one's wrists can get cold.

Little G's sister Freddie has been saying, according to their mother, "Hap bir day!" So from us to Graham: Hap Bir Day, cutie!

Shhh! No Talking in the Library

Miss Freddie seems to enjoy the new Cambridge library. And who wouldn't? It looks gorgeous. All that wood!

Do you think she's looking for books about being a big sister? If not, she should be...

ZOMG Cuteness

So...what do you get when Adorable Mommy takes her poppets to the beach in New England? Sandy undies? Probably. A roaring appetite for grilled vittles? Hope so! A certain sense of renewal and energy? Doubtless. But most importantly, you get:

Cheeks!!
Wow, Freddie. Just...wow.

Digression

How delicious are these two?? Apparently, both Graham and Freddie are experimenting with walking, exploring the local park, and casting magical spells on everyone they meet. Personally, I can't get enough.

Eatable!

Grr! We will Eat You Up!

Seriously? Who could resist these folks? They're insanely eatable. I can see why Freddie's munching on her plastic cutlery - she can tell that something (what is it?) in the vicinity is totally, completely, utterly...EATABLE!

And look at that neck tag. You know what that means, right? Taking the kids to a museum. For culture. And probably art and music, too. If it's the MFA, then there's decorative art (ie, furniture and stuff).

What can we deduce from this? That Freddie and Graham are poised to continue the H-F tradition of glowing with refinement and originality. I guess I'm not surprised.

I mean, look at that face. It's in the genes.

Pajamas

Observe...delicious pajama-clad teensies almost ready for bed:

Showing off their cheeks, bonding with each other, and generally doing the sibling thing, here we have the beauteous Freddie and my favorite boy in glasses (sorry, Charles), Graham.

Silly monkey! He doesn't wear his glasses to bed!

The Return of Freddie

I think we can agree that Freddie has some cheeks. And even if they aren't the biggest cheeks, they definitely win first place for creamiest, most deliciously kissable cheeks. They just call out: "I live in a cold climate where we don't see the sun for 6 months!" and "Snorgle me!"

"F"

Generally, I don't care for memes. They're the chain letters of the 21st century.

However, over at Mom in High Heels, there's one that struck me as short, inoffensive, and built around other people/things/events rather than talking more about oneself. [This is, of course, ridiculous. Anyone who blogs is by definition obsessed with him or herself. So I guess I'm a hypocrite. Nevertheless, I prefer to keep secret my undying affection for The Core. You know, except for here, where I'm just telling us folks.]

So, without further ado, 10 things starting with "F" that deserve a bit of recognition.

1. "F"
No. You did not pass.

2. Foodgawker.com

3. The "F" word
Fabulous! No, the other one.

4. Freddie!

5. Figs

6. Firiam Felizabeth Fauss

7. Fungus
Provider of food, medicine, and decomposition - what could be more useful?

8. Fidelity
An underrated virtue.

9. Fountain pens
Old fashioned and gracious, plus a fun way to use colored ink.

10. France

Sick!

This morning, BabyGadget highlighted the most adorable booties. Check them out:

And if you're inclined toward something brighter:

They're sold through Etsy, and are made-to-order. I feel that certain young ladies in cold climates (and Isla, with her shoe fetish) need these.

BAM!

Not even a day! Not even for a day will Freddie allow Iain to claim cheek domination. Incredible!

Welcome! Wonderful Wee Winifred!

We're so delighted to learn that our friends Sara and Brian have had their second baby, Winifred (to be known, henceforth, as Freddie). They say that all went well and Sara and Freddie are good.

No one is as good as little Graham, though, who Brian tells us is saying "baby" and giving a thumbs-up sign.

Welcome to the world, Freddie. You couldn't have a better family - just wait till you taste your mother's broiled pears with coarse sugar and mascarpone! Just wait till your dad infects you with his succulent obsession (totally Not My Fault, even though it was me who turned him on to California Cactus in Pasadena). Just wait till Graham shows you how to be a movie star (you'll need to start picking out your background music ASAP).
