Kouign Amman - Possibly the Best Thing Evar

David Lebovitz knows things. See here. I read his post, I drooled a little, I forgot.

But what a weird name. How do you even say that? And Brittany. The Palace of Butter. Mmm...I bet that's tasty.

Imagine my shock and delight when I saw that our neighborhood pleasure palace (Caputo's), decided to make Kouign Amann.

I bought one, and I almost had to start making phone calls right there in the car. Phone calls like this: "OMG, you have to get on a plane RIGHT NOW!" And "I'm having an existential crisis. Can you be in love with a pastry like you're in love with William T. Sherman?"*

So for those of you planning to come and visit us...here's something to look forward to.

*That second one might be a personal thing. But I bet I'm not the only one with a tender spot for Sherman.

I must confess, I've always had a bit of a thing for Sherman. Never had kouign amman, but it sounds divine!

I have had one (or 5...) while on the Grand Tour. They are divine. Had *I* gotten one of those phone calls, I would have been on the next plane, fo sho. But, for *some* reason, my phone did not ring. Therefore, I am not on a plane.

And therefore, I also hate Sherman. :P

Well, relatedly, Lottie + Doof had me at Dorie Greenspan's "Salted Butter Break-Ups." Can you make this and report?

Can try, Sara. The only limiting factor is my lack of a cuisinart. But I will soldier on...somehow.

Miriam: no need to call. When you arrive we will assault the Koiign Amman shelf at Caputo's with gusto.

Oh, and MHC: now that Megan and I are Sherman's girlfriends, it's ok if you hate on him.

I love Sherman, too. But not in a girlfriend way. More of a bromance thing.
