Playing

Here's Iain entertaining himself with his blocks.

Oh, and that new toy he likes so much. What is it? Let's get a close-up:

Uh...ok. Is that a Breakstone's cottage cheese container? Yes. Yes it is. Fresh out of the dishwasher, no less.

He seems to like it better than anything else, today. Go figure.

Do you know what Evie loves most in the whole wide world?

An empty cashew can, with a hole in the lid, and juice concentrate ends to stick in the hole.

If I didn't have my own expectations to worry about, we could get away with a very cheap Christmas this year!

Magda Gerber, dude. There's a whole philosophy of parenting that we examined and sort of partially appropriated in which the perfect toy is a plastic bowl or a cardboard tube -- something the Small Human can interact with in his or her chosen fashion, with no dictating of play terms by the form of some overdesigned toy. Our family makes fun of this stuff: "So, what does Maddy want for Hanumas? She have enough cardboard tubes?"

For all that, the Tiny Lovely Bunny's favorite toy is the plate of Fancy Feast in the kitchen, natch.
