Rhythm

Today, I was sitting in Iain's room, reading, and he was playing on the floor. The radio was on. I looked up and found that he'd pulled over a large cardboard block, the wooden xylophone, and a big red leather hatbox (which he'd turned upside-down).

He was surrounded by this makeshift drum kit, using the xylophone mallet to "play the drums" to the music coming from the radio. Every so often he stopped whacking and wiggled his arms in the air - dancing.

Oh, how fun! He is already a music lover! Fast forward 15 years or so, when you make him move the drums to the garage so you can regain your hearing...

You're so right, Sarah. When I bought the xylophone, Charles said "do you hate me?"

Last week I ordered Iain a castanet. hee hee!

I think music is so important for kids! But I also remember my mom making my brother practice his trumpet in the driveway!

Evie and I go to Kindermusik classes, and they are great!
