Fun with Girls

When not buried hip-deep in toys, Iain spent his time in NC learning about girls. This process proved just about as enjoyable as playing inside, and it included pooltime.

Here, Iain experiencing the kiddie pool for the first time: Note his expression of delight. Note the cutie patootie swim trunks we obtained for him at REI. Note that while at REI I looked over, saw a little girl wearing an adorable tiara, and realized that her mother was my old classmate Kellar. That was a fun reunion, though I'm jealous of her shoulders and arms and general air of insane fitness. That's what river rafting produces, apparently.

Back to our story. Iain shared the pool with boys (Noah, below) and his two girl friends, Zoe and Kylie. It was a tight fit, but that's part of the experience, right? And thanks to the Pink Mommie, Iain now has a kiddie pool of his very own (Hippo-style).

Here are the Pink Parents and Charles in the ginormous room they call the kitchen. You could turn a battleship in there. You know, if you needed to.

Kylie, demonstrating her SuperCuteDeathStare. Laugh if you must, but when she shoots that thing at you, the urge to buy her a popsicle and a toy is well nigh irresistible.

And then there's her sister. Despite our memories of the time Zoe produced something truly, spectacularly, amazingly disturbing (in her pants) when 6 months old, we still find her charming. She was so careful with Iain, a trait that allowed us to leave him to play with Zoe and Kylie while we talked grownup stuff and caught up with the W's.

Stay tuned for a tour of their amazing garden, complete with playhouse. Yes, a playhouse. Because sometimes neighther the upstairs nor the downstairs playroom will do.
