I've been away in NYC for my summer seminar for the last few days. We toured Ellis Island, the Tenement Museum, and the New York Public Library, listened to a lecture by a prominent historian of the immigrant experience, and ate lunch at Katz's Deli.
It was a blast.
There aren't that many circumstances in which you can overhear this exchange:
Q: "What is up with her complete non-definition of 'scientific racism'? It's all over the place."
A: "I know! It has this everything-and-the-kitchen-sink quality to it."
Perhaps it's uber-geeky, but I enjoy immersing myself in history peeps. They say the darndest things.
