Trousers are for wearing out of the house.
Pants = underpants.
What about pajama pants? Are they "pants" or "trousers"? I feel silly saying to Iain, "put on your trousers" when they're polyester pajamas with little bugs on them. But they're not undies, so....
Assistance please, English folk.

From Will: The whole thing is pajamas, but if you want to differentiate, you would say pajama tops and pajamas bottoms. But really all you would say is put on "your pajamas!"

I would also refer to them as PJ Bottoms.
