Exam Week

It must be a big week for cognitive function around here. Iain has learned to:

1. Wave (sort of. He raises his hand off the table/high-chair/countertop and wiggles it a little).

2. Shake his head "no." Not that he means "no," but he likes to shake his head at me. And in general.

Another clue is that: Iain has been waking up in the middle of the night. People who believe in cognitive milestones say that sleep disruption is a sure sign that a baby is working something out in his noodle. If so, Iain is a good test case. Night before last, he woke at 12:30, while last night he had a period of wakefulness (complete with screaming!) at 4:13. Yes, 4:13. I checked the clock because I was all, "what am I doing awake, son?"

So it's anyone's guess where this will end. By the end of the weekend Mr. Man may be explaining algorithms to Mommy. Fat lot of good that'll do him...
