Iain is having a hard week. Day One at daycare he turned his back and played, not worried when I left. But he didn't nap and he didn't eat much.
Day Two, he screamed like a banshee when I left, refused to nap, and ate almost nothing.
Day Three he screamed like a banshee when I left, cried all day, refused to play with the other kids (except during art, when he painted a bunch of grapes with finger paint), but napped for an hour and ate veggies and fruit (3 servings of cantaloupe!).
So. To go with this litany of frustration, he's been very, very difficult at home. Lots of screaming, lots of throwing food, lots of sleep disruption.
But this morning he's calmly playing. He ate a piece of buttered toast with jam, three-quarters of a large peach, one quarter of a large banana, and a scrambled egg for breakfast. So far, so good. Fingers crossed that today is the day he naps, eats, and chills out at daycare. Fingers CROSSED, people!

Bless him he has had you all to himself for all his life. It must be difficult to adapt to a completely new routine.
How are you coping? No tantrums yet I hope.
Me? No more tantrums than usual. You know, four or five a day. Depending.
You're right - he's had me and Charles all the time in his own personal house. Then he had 6 weeks of travel, after which he didn't recognize his house anymore. Then we took him to daycare. Not an easy transition, apparently.
But the caregiver has a good attitude about it and I trust that she will work her magic and help him cope.
Fingers are crossed...
I bet he'll get used to the new routine pretty quickly. I'm hoping you're feelings will be hurt soon when he doesn't even care that you leave...
Yes, that would be nice. After all - most of the time he's all, "Mom? Meh."
So it would just be par for the course if he liked daycare better than me!
Having children is one of the many good ways we learn that it is not all about me, or, in this case, you.
poor little guy!!! change is hard. i know i just want to scream when my days get turned upsidedown. he will adjust. they always do. just give it a little while. :)
