Yet More Toys (No, Really)

Here's the upstairs shelf - I think it's pretty good in that space, and it holds a lot of books/toys and teddy bears. Yes, that's an inflatable mace on top. When you live near a city with a weaponry museum...

And this is the rocking "horse" we got at IKEA. It rocks, it has handles, it's ambiguously shaped. So far, Iain's interested but cautious.

You might think that would be enough toys for now. But last night when Charles went out for groceries, he returned with this:

It plays the alphabet song and when you insert specific letters it tells you what they are and what sound they make. Iain finds the whole thing intriguing.

He also has two new, and related, tricks.
  • Number 1 is that he listens to music and then pumps his fist in the air. He's dancing. We reinforce this by dancing around him and then he laughs.
  • Number 2 is that he found the volume dial on his bedroom radio.
So tonight after his bath, Iain turned on the MP3 player (it was playing Mozart), then turned it way, way up. All the way up. Like Freedom Rock. And then he pumped his fist.

It was hilarious. He wanted to rock out to the Nacht Musik, dude. So we danced. 'Cause why not?

I think that what Iain is also trying to say to you is that it is *about* time you start buying him toys. A person can only handle so much history being read to him to fill that off-the-charts head. Sometimes, all you *really* want is soft toy and a nursery rhyme.
