I read Martin's memoir last year, and in it he talks about playing the banjo as part of his stand-up routine. Apparently, he's quite good and really enjoys it. I think he collects banjos, too.

He does play extremely well, and seems to take it pretty seriously, despite its inclusion in his old stand-up routine.
Despite the fact that he's been making some rather poor films in recent years, Martin is a man of many talents. In addition to being an actor, comedian and musician, he's also a talented writer (mainly a playwright, although he's also written prose and was an occasional columnist for the New Yorker), trained as a magician and is known around LA for his extensive contemporary art collection.
