Learning to Use Feet

Iain is learning (slowly) to use his feet for something other than snacking. One challenge is that he doesn't exactly understand how to place them flat beneath his weight.

But he's learning fast, partly because he has a lot of incentives. Nearly everything has become an enticing challenge to pull on, taste, climb over, or wrestle. For example, the rectangle you see behind him is an alphabet rug. It's disassembled and packed away in a plastic case, making a nice platform just under the window. And what's hanging next to the window? That's right, the cords to the blinds, with their delicious wooden end bits.

So the other day I looked over and Iain was climbing up on the plastic bag (which to him probably looks like a big step), and reaching for the dangling cords. Nothing so terribly wrong with that - just proof that with so many things to reach for and grab and taste and explore he'll need to learn how to use his feet ASAP.

Of course, this leads to a lot of "no!" as well. With the result you see below.

"But why can't I eat your headphones?"
