Bye-Bye, Gramma

Iain is already missing Gramma, who came to wrangle him while I was conferencing. She made lovely brekkies, delicious lunches, scrumptious dinners. She read to him (see above) as much as he wanted and showed him endless YouTube videos of Elmo tricycling, planting seeds with Mrs. Obama, singing with Big Bird...you get the idea.

One of the things Iain showed off to Gramma was his ability to pick up words. So far this week, new words include: five, look (usually said like this, "look!"), Big Bird, hummus, cookie, cheek, and walk. Note the introduction of imperatives ("look!" and "walk!"). He is also putting words together a little bit, as in "bye-bye Juno," and "hello? Bye-Bye" when playing with his phone.

So that's the good news. The bad news is that after a good dinner and a good night's sleep, he threw up again this morning.

Back to Dr. W for a check-in. It was undignified, Iain would like you to know. Swabs in his nose, his mouth, and some kind of torture device in his ear. Awful. But they ruled out strep and the flu. Dr. W. thinks it's a virus, and says to just hang on.

There has been no more puking since this morning (and, Gastronomer, he puked on the towels this morning, proving his considerate-puking skills for sure), and he ate a bunch of "cookies" (they were Club crackers) without incident. Fingers crossed (again).
