A Not-So Lazy Saturday

Iain awoke at 6:12 this morning. I did not feel that this was an appropriate time to wake up on a weekend, so I told him to go back to sleep. He didn't, so we got up around 7. Urgh.

Once up, though, the only thing to do is make the best of things. So we had a good brekkie of homemade granola (batch 2: thumbs up.) and then started bringing plants in from the deck. It's forecast to dip down to 29F tonight, so things like jade plants had to come in for the weekend.

Later in the day, after a nice snack with Daddy and a not-very-successful nap, Iain decided that Saturday is a good day to read Harper's.

Then he set The Staff to work, because you know how it is. If you don't crack the whip every day they just sit around reading the news and playing Mah Johng and drinking tea and they waste the whole day.

So The Staff mobilized to vacuum, scrub the tub, wipe down some windowsills and baseboards, do some laundry, clean the kitchen, take out all the trash, tidy up that space between the washer and dryer that seems to accumulate disgusting bits of fluff, and put away about a million things that were not where they belonged. They even aired out Iain's room, which had taken on a whiff of Eau de Diaper.

It was a good, not-very-lazy day, and it was a good way to get ready for Miss Callie's evening visit. She arrived at 5:15, just as Iain was waking from his afternoon mini-nap. Keep your mouses set to this channel for pictures...
