Gorgeous

Photo courtesy of Cathy at Gastronomer.

Caltech is lousy with olive trees. There are lemon and orange trees, too. Basically, they're covered in case of an appetizer emergency.

Until recently, the olives pretty much went to waste. But then Caltech hired a Frenchman for its president. Obviously, this changed everything.

These days, Caltech olives become Caltech olive oil. And lest you think this process involves the soul-less extraction of the olives via machinery, take a look at this. Not only are the olives harvested by hand (after the obligatory "ladder safety" training), but a luncheon that follows includes escargot.

Fabulous.

Forget the photos. I want some of the oil. Now.

Oh. My. Sweet. Lord.

I need that crusty bread drenched in olive oil and topped with escargot.

It looks delicious.
