Laying Down, Sitting Up

Iain's newest trick is to sit up.

What? You say. I thought he sat up at, like, 5 months or something.
Yes. In the most basic sense of "sitting up."
.
But until recently, if he fell over, forget about it. You had to haul him back up and let him catch his balance again. He didn't get up into a sitting position from a prone position.
.
This week, that changed. If you lay him down for a nap, for instance, you can't be quite sure when he wakes up. He used to cry. You'd go get him, and he'd be complaining that He Was Awake. And yet, No One Came. And He Was Ready To Be UP!
.
Now you hear a little noise. "Is that him?" you think. Maybe. Maybe not. It's not crying. So you wait for more noise. Nothing. Ok, he must still be asleep. Except no. As it turns out, he's sitting up in his crib, babbling away to his Monkey Man, looking around and generally enjoying his newfound maturity.
.
Charles is going to have to lower the mattress in Iain's crib this weekend. Because this kid's growing up. Fast.

I told you it happens quickly! And don't you have mixed emotions - excitement and sadness at once?

Wait till he just comes out of his room after his nap! The first time will be a shock!
